Gospel Artiste, Abena Ruthy, a candidate for the upcoming elections for the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) is hopeful of winning the position of 2nd Vice President of the association and appealing to all members eligible to vote for her when they get to the polls.
MUSIGA members shall go to the polls to elect new executives who will lead the Union for the next four years to occupy 7 positions in the union: President, 1st and 2nd Vice presidents, General Secretary, National Welfare Officer, National Treasurer and National Organiser.
Abena Ruthy and Deborah Freeman are contesting for the 2nd Vice President for MUSIGA.
The election is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, 10th July, 2019 nationwide after an earlier postponement from 26th June, 2019 due to inefficiency preparations.
According to Trigmatic (a member of the Election Committee of MUSIGA), the elections will be held in all regional capitals with supervision by the Electoral Commission of Ghana; and that, this time, all hindrances have been settled and none is expected.
Abena Ruthy has made headlines with her tremendous contributions on social issues; and as an outspoken person. To her credit, she recorded an anthem to end defilement against men and women who have been victims, but unable to share their story because of the shame they feel and the stigma they will endure. Aside music, Abena Ruthy is a banker; hence expected to convey her banking and managerial knowledge to the running of the union.
She has pledged full support for the welfare of all MUSIGA members and musicians at large; including a facelift of the union. In real life, she is Ruth Benny Wood.
